The series adaptation of the Coen brothers’ cult film focuses on bizarre crimes. Find out what is known about Fargo season 6 so far.

Minnesota in North Dakota is the setting for several unbelievable crimes in “Fargo”. Based on the 1996 feature film, in which filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen send leading actress Frances McDormand on a search for clues, the TV series of the same name deals with new cases in each season.

Although the different stories take place in the same universe, new characters come into focus with each run. The first four seasons of the series are available on Amazon Prime Video. Fans can currently enjoy new episodes of the fifth season every week – but what about Fargo season 6? We tell you what is known so far.

Is Fargo season 6 still coming?

With quirky humor, surprising plot twists and quirky characters, the legendary Coen brothers already raised the question in the mid-90s as to whether the events from their crime thriller grotesque could be based on a true story. Showrunner Noah Hawley took the same approach to heart for his series adaptation. Over five seasons, the police are confronted with the crudest crimes that are so unbelievable that they can’t really be made up.

This tonality has won the TV series many fans, who are now rightly wondering whether they can expect a sixth season of “Fargo”. Although director Noah Hawley has already spoken to Deadline in favor of another round, ScreenRant reports that official confirmation is still pending. Fans of the format will therefore have to be patient until a binding announcement is made.

Crime thriller alternatives to Fargo season 6

Anyone eagerly waiting to see what perfidious ideas the characters from a sixth season of “Fargo” come up with can bridge the gap until then with similar crime series:

  • True Detective: Detectives Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Marty Hart (Woody Harrelson) investigate the murder of a young woman. It soon becomes apparent that the case could be one crime in a whole series of murders. But the private lives of the two agents also influence the investigation.
  • The Sinner: The question of guilt is actually clearly answered after a young mother (Jessica Biel) stabs an unknown man to death on the beach. But Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) can’t let go of the case, which is why he investigates the background to the crime. It turns out that a traumatic past is relevant.
  • City on a Hill: Racism and corruption reign in Boston in the 1990s, so District Attorney DeCourcy Ward (Aldis Hodge) and FBI agent Jackie Rohr (Kevin Bacon) take up the fight against crime. At the center of the investigation is a family responsible for armed robberies.
